Customized Turkey tour – Hagia Sophia

Customized Turkey Tour says Hagia Sophia is a great architectural beauty and an important monument both for Byzantine and for Ottoman Empires. Once a church, later a mosque, and now a museum of the Turkish Republic, Hagia Sophia has always been the precious of its time.

Selimiye Mosque

The square Mosque with its single great dome and four slender minarets, dominates the skyline of the former Ottoman capital of Edirne. Sinan, the most famous of Ottoman architects in the 16th century, constructed the complex. It includes madrasas (Islamic schools), a covered market, clock house, outer courtyard and library, to be his best work. The interior decoration using Iznik tiles from the peak period of their production testifies to an art form that remains unsurpassed in this material. The complex is considered to be the most harmonious expression ever achieved by the Ottoman kulliye. Kulliye is a group of buildings constructed around a mosque and managed as a single institution.

Cappadocia

Customized Turkey tours must include Cappadocia. As if plucked from a whimsical fairy-tale and set down upon the stark Anatolian plains, Cappadocia is a geological oddity of honeycombed hills and towering boulders of otherworldly beauty. The fantastical topography matches the human history here. People have long utilised the region’s soft stone, seeking shelter underground and leaving the countryside scattered with fascinating cavern architecture. The fresco-adorned rock-cut churches of Goreme Open-Air Museum and the subterranean refuges of Derinkuyu and Kaymaklı are the most famous sights, while simply bedding down in one of Cappadocia’s cave hotels is an experience in a 21st-century cave living.

Topkapi palace, customized Turkey tour

Several years after the conquest of Istanbul by Mehmed the Conqueror in 1453, started the construction of the Topkapi Palace. The year was 1460 and the palace was completed in 1478. A 700.000-square-metre area on an Eastern Roman Acropolis between the Sea of Marmara, Bosporus and the Golden Horn, was enough to build the palace. Topkapi Palace, was the administrative, educational and art centre of the Empire for nearly four hundred years. It had been like that since the rule of Mehmed the Conqueror until Sultan Abdulmecid, who is the thirty-first Sultan. Although the Ottoman Dynasty abandoned the palace and moved to the Dolmabahce Palace in the middle of the 19th century, Topkapi Palace had always been of great importance.

Blue Mosque

Sedefkar Mehmet Aga built the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii in Turkish) during the reign of Sultan Ahmet between 1609-1616. It is located on the site of the Great Palace of Byzantium, on the south-eastern side of the Hippodrome. Europeans call it blue because of its interior. More than 20.000 pieces of Iznic blue tiles, were used.

People also know the mosque as a fascinating structure with its six minarets. It is the oldest six-minaret mosque in Turkey. (the third oldest European capital, after Athens and Rome, is Sofia – the capital city of Bulgaria; enjoy a Sofia day trip)

Ephesus

In the ancient world, Ephesus was a centre of travel and commerce. Situated on the Aegean Sea at the mouth of the Cayster River, Ephesus was one of the greatest seaports of the ancient world.

Three major roads led from the seaport. One road went east towards Babylon via Laodicea. Another one to the north via Smyrna and a third road, south to the Meander Valley. (there is another road that takes straight to Bulgaria, jeep safari Bulgaria)

Tulip

The tulip is one of Istanbul’s traditional symbols. It came to Istanbul from Iran centuries ago. People favoured and cultivated it here until tulip-love became a real mania. In the so-called Tulip Period of Ottoman history, one could sell a rare tulip variety for a breath-taking sum.

Ephesus

Ephesus is one of the ancient Greek cities in the region. Attic and Ionian colonists founded and built the city in the 10th century B.C. The Temple of Artemis in the city is the most well-known ancient remnant and one of the seven wonders of the world.

So in order to experience one of the seven wonders, visiting Ephesus must be on your list. This ancient city was one of the seven churches of Asia, as the Book of Revelations cited. The House of Virgin Mary is another destination that makes Ephesus worth a visit. As legend says, Virgin Mary spent her last days in Ephesus. Since the 19th century, the house of Virgin Mary has been regarded as the place where she spent her final days.

Many Catholics on pilgrimage visit the house. People also believe that Ephesus is the place where the story of the Seven Sleepers took place. According to Muslims, Catholics and Orthodox Christians, the seven sleepers slept in a cave in Ephesus for centuries. Why they did so, because of persecution for their belief in God. To be part of this mesmerizing journey into the past, Ephesus is only a short flight from Istanbul. Bulgaria, too is a short flight and even a short drive from Istanbul. You can be part of private tour Bulgaria as well.

Sightseeing tours Turkey – Zeugma

One of Alexander the Great’s generals founded the ancient city of Zeugma in Gaziantep’s town of Nizip in 300 B.C. Originally they called it Selevkia Euphrates. In 64 BC the Roman Empire conquered and ruled Zeugma due to the fact that it was one of the four biggest cities of the Commagene Kingdom. This action led to the new name of Zeugma. It means bridge or passageway. Witnessing huge wealth and glory at the time of the Romans the city was important. This is due to its geo-strategic location along the Silk Road connecting Antioch to China. In 256 A.D., the Sassanids invaded the city and completely destroyed it. Later again, a huge earthquake buried the city.

Due to the invasion and the earthquake, the city and its magnificent structures sadly disappeared for a long age. In the 1980s, the Gaziantep Archaeology museum conducted the first excavation in the city and found graves and statues. But the main excavation that unveiled beautiful mosaics was conducted in 1992. This excavation brought Zeugma onto the archaeological scene and attracted many foreign and local tourists to view its glorious mosaics. There are also many villas, an amphitheatre, baths and temples. They are waiting beneath the ground to be uncovered. It can also be said that the real beauty of Gaziantep is much more than what we can see above ground.

Sightseeing tours Turkey – Hierapolis

Sightseeing tours Turkey – Hierapolis is an ancient city that is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. (If you decide to visit Sofia, Sofia sightseeing, Bulgaria, you will find other places from the UNESCO list) Hierapolis is near the natural wonders of Pamukkale, which is renowned for its springs and healing thermal waters. The theater of the ancient city is where gladiators fought. According to Christians, Hierapolis is where Saint Philip, a disciple of Jesus, was murdered, so it is considered a sacred destination. Both the natural wonders around the province and the ancient sites take Hierapolis to the top of any list of historic destinations to visit.

Sightseeing tours Turkey – Mount Nemrut

The outstanding natural treasure, Mount Nemrut, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tumulus contains the tomb of King Antiochus of the Commagene Kingdom and several giant statues. They are assumed to be royal tombs dating to the first century B.C. The highest open-air museum in the world, Mount Nemrut is in the Adıyaman provincial town of Kahta. The beauties of the enchanting 10-metre statues and ancient Commagene sanctuary are mesmerizing.
People today believe the mountain was a place for worship in ancient Anatolia. When you visit it, you will understand why ancient people chose it as a sacred place. On the East and West, there are giant statues, inscriptions and reliefs.

Five statues portray the gods and Antiochus. Every year, thousands of tourists come to the mountain to witness its history in person. Sightseeing tours Turkey – Gobeklitepe

Some regard Gobeklitepe as one of the oldest temple complexes in the world. The evidence of recent findings reveal that it is the oldest sculpture workshops. It is on the outskirts of Urfa, and you must see it when you visit the city. Archaeological excavations conducted in the area have unearthed many artefacts, and it is characterized as the zero point of history since it dates back 12,000 years. Its fame lies in the fact that it is the largest, most monumental site built when humans were still hunter-gatherers. It was before the invention of agriculture. Moreover, some of the illustrations there are so amazing that they make modern artists envious.

Along with Gobeklitepe, Urfa is also a sacred city. People call it The City of Prophets, due to the legacy of Abraham. All three holy books of the three major monotheistic religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam mention it. The history of the city, which is like a crossroad for different faiths, dates back more than 9,000 years. Numerous prophets are believed to have lived there. So, both Gobeklitepe and Urfa are amazing destinations for quick visits in history. Contact us so you don’t regret later.

Turkey Climate

Private Turkey Tours – Turkey borders the Black Sea and Georgia and Armenia to the northeast, Iran to the east, Iraq to the southeast; the Syrian Arab Republic and the Mediterranean to the south; the Aegean Sea to the west and Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest. Turkey’s climate, like its location, is varied and complicated, to say the least. Because of the country’s geographical conditions it is difficult, if not impossible, to pin-point a climate for the country as a whole. But it’s not difficult at all to plan guided tours turkey. The right guide and the right region with appropriate climate are enough to start.

Turkey is split into 7 different regions – Marmara, Black Sea Coast, Eastern Anatolian, South-eastern Anatolia, Central Anatolia, Mediterranean and Aegean. Each region has a vastly different climate which is primarily affected by its proximity to mountain ranges and different seas and oceans. On the whole, the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean coasts have typical Mediterranean climates with hot summers and mild, wet winters. The east of the country is mountainous with warm summers and very cold, snowy winters. Central Turkey, located on an interior plateau has low rainfall and cold or very cold winters.

Private Turkey Tours Seasons and Weather

Istanbul and European Turkey experience hot summers and cold winters with snow being a common feature. Spring and autumn, from April to May and from September to mid November respectively are the ideal times to visit Istanbul and the inland regions when temperatures are pleasant and the skies are clear. Istanbul’s location near the sea means it can be quite a windy city, especially in the winter.

The Aegean and Mediterranean coasts both enjoy a typical Mediterranean climate characterised by mild winters and hot summers, which makes the beach resorts of Marmaris and Kusadasi popular year-round destinations. The majority of rainfall occurs in winter along the coast so the summer months remain hot and dry, perfect for topping up that tan. As you travel further east in Turkey the extremes in climate become more pronounced with very hot and dry summers reaching highs of 40°C and bitterly cold winters with heavy snowfall. Spring, autumn and the shoulder months of summer are the best times to visit the region when temperatures are mild and pleasant. And it tends to stay relatively dry.

Turkey is complex in climate. It divides in five regions. These are the Black Sea region in the north, the Sea of Marmara region in the northwest. Then, the Aegean Sea region in the far west, the Mediterranean Sea region in the south. And the Anatolian Plateau region in the country’s centre.

Black Sea and Marmara regions

Black Sea is Turkey’s dampest region with excess rainfall, moderate temperatures and mists and fog even in summer. This region covers most of the northern coast of Turkey and is famous for its natural beauty. That part of the country is very mountainous and is heavily forested. A great amount of sightseeing Turkey is located here. The largest city on the Black Sea coast is Samsun. Trabzon is another big city and close to it is perhaps the world’s most spectacularly situated monastery.

The Marmara region, including Istanbul, has hot, humid summers and mild but damp winters. Summer temperatures can reach an uncomfortable 40°C. The Marmara Sea is inland and it separates Turkey’s Asian and European sides. It also connects Black Sea to the Aegean Sea via the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits.

The Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea regions – private Turkey tours

Just like the Marmara region, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea regions have very hot summers and mild but damp winters. However, still there is some climatic variance within the Aegean region. Cities further inland have chillier winters, with some possibility of snow. Nevertheless, that region has the highest concentration of ancient cities in Turkey. Get on the wings of private Turkey tours and see for yourself, regardless of the temperature outside. Or, simply visit the Aegean side in May or end of September, in October. The two regions are pretty much the same. They are the top destinations in the country, thanks to the crystal clear waters, sunny skies, and rich art and history.

The Anatolian Plateau region

The Anatolian Plateau region in private Turkey tours is the central upland region of the ancient region of Anatolia, today’s Turkey. Anatolia has served as a bridge between the civilizations of Europe and Asia for thousands of years. The plateau is hemmed in by two mountain ranges, the Taurus and the Pontiac Mountain. The climate of the Anatolian Plateau is steppe climate. There is a great temperature difference between day and night. Rainfall is low but is usually in the form of snow. The average temperature is 23°C in summer and -2°C in winter.

Whatever the climate in Turkey, it is a country worth being visited. Late spring, summer and autumn are the best time for beach holidays on the Black Sea coast, the Aegean and Mediterranean coast, as well. Turkey is impressive every season. Contact us and the rest is our responsibility.

Turkey private tours – Republic of Turkey

Turkey private tours, as well as Turkey private round tour are possible due to the existence of the Republic of Turkey. The Treaty of Lausanne of July 24, 1923, led to the international recognition of the sovereignty of the newly formed “Republic of Turkey”. The republic was the successor state of the Ottoman Empire. After this Treaty, authorities officially proclaimed Turkey a republic on October 29, 1923, in the new capital of Ankara.

For the first time in centuries, the Turkish people enjoyed self-rule. After an election, they chose Mustafa Kemal as the first president of the Republic of Turkey. As a president for 15 years, until his death in 1938, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk introduced a broad range of reforms. They affected the political, social, legal, economic, as well as cultural spheres that were virtually unparalleled in any other country. We, on the other hand, haven’t changed our private Bulgaria holidays.

Grand National Assembly

The first Grand National Assembly under the leadership of Ataturk created a new political and legal system. It was based not only on the principles of parliamentary democracy, but also on human rights, national sovereignty and division of powers. Also, private ownership and secularism and the separation of religion and state affairs. Followed the establishment of a new, secular education system. The Arabic alphabet was changed into the Latin alphabet. New civil and criminal codes were adapted from European models. Sofia is an European capital and there are private guided Sofia tours.

Turkish women received equal rights under the law. They received rights such as those to vote and public office could elect them. Due to that action, Turkey stood ahead of many Western nations in terms of women’s rights. It was a revolution, unparalleled at its time and even today. That was a revolution that brought a predominantly Muslim nation in line with Western civilization and universal values.

It’s not a revolution, though, to contact us and find out more about Turkey. Also, ask about our tours and guides.

Turkey sightseeing – how many people live in Turkey

It’s always interesting to know facts about a country. These are, usually, official language, culture, population. After we learn about these, the more specific details come such as history, culture. It’s not different with Turkey. It’s a huge country and it deserves attention. Turkey sightseeing reveal the best and most important places to be seen in Turkey. The population of Turkey mainly comprises of Turkish people. They make 75% of the total population. It also has Kurdish population that makes up 18%. Of course, there are other ethnic groups that take up the remaining 17% of the total population.

It is fun how Turkish people understand time. They are very hard-working and do things precisely but they are also very laid-back. When a Turk tells you that they are on their way, still don’t expect them on time. They can always stop for lunch or tea, or just to relax before they arrive.

Private guide turkey – stay informed and enjoy tea

Probably, it will be of no surprise to you when I tell you that Turkish national drink is not a certain beverage but tea. A small glass in the shape of a tulip is so inviting. Hot, red-brownish in colour, tea is the thing that symbolizes Turkey and is always there to make your stay lovelier. Turkish tea glasses have no handle like a regular Western cup. So you need to hold the glass from the top using your thumb and index finger. Tea means a lot to Turkish people. It can be considered a gesture of friendship by them.

Speaking about gestures, Turkey is a country of these. Turks love communicating and it’s not a problem for them if you don’t have a common language with them. Emotions and gestures are important for them. They are very warm people.

So far, interesting facts about Turks. The good news is there are more. Turkish people pay great attention of cleanliness. They keep their homes clean and tidy. And they leave shoes outside the flat or house and keep them in closets or beside the door. Their logic is to keep the dirt from the streets away from their homes.

The current population of Turkey is a little over 82 000 000 people. Back in 1960, it was 28 160 000. Since then it’s been increasing gradually.

When talking about the population of a country, it’s important to mention the life expectancy as well. It has also grown from the average 48.27 years in 1960 to 73.94 years in 2011.

Turkey population in Istanbul

Become part of city tours Istanbul and get to know the city better and better. You will have the chance to meet its enormous population. Istanbul is the most populous city in Turkey. If external migration remains on the previous year level, the population will have increased by 427,960 due to the migration reasons. Turkey sightseeing – it means that the number of people who move into Turkey in order to settle there as permanent residents (immigrants) will prevail over the number of people who leave the country to settle permanently in another country (emigrants).

Population density

The population density in Turkey is 110 people per square kilometre (284 people per mi2). It is calculated as permanently settled population of Turkey is divided by total area of the country. Total area is the sum of land and water areas within international boundaries and coastlines of Turkey. The total area of Turkey is 783,560 km2(302,534 mi2) according to the United Nations Statistics Division.

Turkey sightseeing and Turkey age structure

Turkey population is equivalent to 1.08% of the total world population. It ranks number 17 in the list of countries by population. 77,7 % of the population is urban, which makes (63,803,445 people in 2020). The median age in Turkey is 31,5 years.

Enough with statistics. Turkey is much more than simply numbers. It’s the people, culture, history, Turkey sightseeing. It is more fun facts such as Turkish evil eye bead. It is a cultural symbol with a history of 5000 years. People use it massively in the country, especially those who bought a new car or new house or on the arrival of a baby. Turkish people use it to remove the negative energy of jealous people. Turkish people use this evil eye in necklaces, bracelets, and many other forms of jewellery.

Tour guide Turkey Seyran Topal talks about herself

I’m a licensed tour guide Turkey in English and Arabic. Also, I have an experience in arranging private and regular tours individually designed for tourists and business people since 2008. I guide in Istanbul, do sightseeing tours Turkey, I travel everywhere in Turkey.

I was born in Antakya (Antiochia) in 1988 and love my hometown and Turkey more than any other place in the world. That is why I chose to be a guide in these ancient lands after living abroad for a while. I enjoy sharing my love and knowledge of this magical, lively, and unique country with a great passion.

I studied and earned my degree in Tourism at the University of Kocaeli which is 2 hours away from Istanbul. Then I passed a strict exam on art, archaeology, history, geography and language, earning my tour guide license. Apart from continuous studies and updates of the history and culture of Turkey every year I follow professional seminars regarding the travel business and guiding. I collaborate with other guides as well for many other languages, all licensed by the Government too. I’ve chosen them not only based on their deep knowledge of the country, but also for their warmth and communication skills. We love spending time, having vacations together discussing cases of Turkey’s history. Bulgaria vacation is an option for us.

My professional aim

My professional aim is based on helping a foreign guest discover Turkey as you would with a trusted Turkish friend. You may prefer private guided tours for families and small groups in order to get a better service. Tours with flexible itineraries, and tailor-made at the most comfortable pace. All of my travel services are coordinated with licensed local Tour Operators. And also they are based on guests’ satisfaction rather than a commercial activity. Earlier I mentioned Bulgaria. We work with licensed local Tour Operators as well. Be our guest with Sofia guided tours.

My main concern is to make my guest comfortable. Also, pass them all the knowledge I have on my country in order to promote Turkey and gain another goodwill ambassador abroad. For this kind of service would be the one that I’d look when I travel, viewing from a tourist eye.

Because of the many archaeological sites and the difficulty and/or difference of the Turkish language; if you’re planning a visit to Turkey it would be a good idea to hire services of an official professional tour guide Turkey who speaks your language and has a deep knowledge of Turkey’s heritage. Many tours can be arranged in Turkey. There are very good land and air connections between the cities and historical sites. I hope to see you in this beautiful country of ours, at the cradle of civilizations.

Contact us and it will be my great pleasure to introduce my lovely country to you.

Trust us and come on a Rose Festival tour. We can make it for you. So, from Marmaris we get on a gulet (a traditional Turkish design of a two-masted or three-masted wooden sailing vessel).
