Private Golfing Tour Turkey – Kusadasi International Golf Club

Several are the golf courses in Turkey. They are in Bodrum, Istanbul, Antalya and now Izmir. And they are all part of private golfing tour Turkey. They also all offer fun. Simply like private fun tour Istanbul. There might not be sports activities in this tour but it gives us good vibes and memories.

For the golf club, we need to fly from Istanbul to Izmir. The location of the golf club, we like to introduce to you, is in a popular resort area around 90 km south of Izmir (Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey). the resort is called Kusadasi. Designed by the Spanish golf architect, Jose Canales, the Kusadasi course, which has been under construction since 2009, measures almost 6,400 metres and has around 140-270 metres above the sea level with views to the surrounding Aegean Sea, Long Beach, Samos Island, National Park bays and mountains.

Unique resort

This unique resort offers a 18-hole championship golf course, a full-service 3174 m2 Club House. Also, a VIP lounge, a restaurant, banquet and meeting room facilities. Of course, event organizations and lodging accommodation are included all in one location.

Holes: 18
Metres: 6359; Par: 72
Handicap Men: 28
Handicap Ladies: 36

Private Golfing Tour Turkey – Kusadasi is the first course in Turkey to be part of a mixed development including villas and apartments. The developments in the Belek region, home to most of Turkey’s courses, are entirely built on land leased from the Turkish government. Thus they were not able to include freehold property.

Option One

We will pick you up from your hotel with a luxurious vehicle and drive to Bulbul Mountain to visit Virgin Mary’s House.

Then, we will drive back to Ephesus ruins to explore the amazing marble ancient city with spectacular historical buildings such as the Celsius Library, Grand Roman theatre, Hadrian Temple. Also, the Terraces Houses are a very interesting place to see ancient royal houses there. The formation of the houses is with beautiful ancient mosaic art on the walls and floors. It has additional admission fee to visit.

Option two

Before we pick you up from your hotel with a luxurious vehicle and drive to Sirince, may be you will like to check our Balkan tours 2022. Upon arriving, the whitewashed brick-and-stucco homes call greatest attention to Sirince’s characteristic Greek flair. However, step inside the village and witness the hordes of people that swirl in and around it. You will see what brings the crowds – Turks and foreigners alike. Beyond the bucolic setting of a remote outpost of Greek heritage homes, it is the wine.

Fitted between traditional restaurants and small shops that sell handmade bars of soap and bundles of collected herbs, Sirince has a surprising number of shops that cater to Turkey‘s increasing thirst for domestic varieties, such as Okuzgozu and Emir, and European origin grapes, like Cabernet. Do you know you can find good wines in Bulgaria as well, especially in the small town of Melnik? As for Bulgaria’s capital city, Sofia, sightseeing Sofia can offer you both good wine combined with some history and culture.

People somtimes compare Sirince to Tuscany. It is important for visitors not to assume typical wines are only produced there. More than 92 varieties exist including the strange tastes of kiwi, raspberry, melon and pomegranate.

Sirince is where wine making not only withstood the swap of peoples and cultures but also came to flourish, albeit in a very different direction. One where wine production auspiciously uses kiwis and cherries and tart trends over dry.

Contact us and let’s have a glass of good wine after a game of golf.

Sightseeing Turkey – Vita Park Golf Club

Turkey is a country that can offer a memorable holiday. Sightseeing Turkey is history, seaside holidays, sporting fun.

Whether you are someone that likes to do sport for fun or you like to be a professional, there are numerous sports in Turkey that you can choose from. You can go for team sports or more individual ones.

What we like to introduce to you is golf in the lovely seaside resort of Bodrum.

There is the Vita Park Golf Resort that opened the first, Milas course, of two on July 11th 2008. It’s an 18-hole course. It’s a par 71-hole on 5,850 metres located next to a protected salt lake, Lake Tuzla. Like mentioned earlier, it’s the first course of two planned for the resort in that region.

Why to choose Vita Park Golf Resort?

Firstly, it offers all the charm and challenge of a traditional course. Secondly, it has the features that remind of the best Scottish links courses. The resort reveals people’s respect and passion for the game. It shows a great commitment to excellence. Also, the desire a place with the best possible conditions for an excellent game, to be built. In addition, the resort of Bodrum itself is impressive. It is a place that has to be on your Turkey sightseeing list.

Vita Park Golf Resort uses Paspalum grass, a species that requires irrigation only every two to three days, for three to five minutes. This represents about one-third the requirement of Bermuda grass and one-sixth the requirement of typical lawn grass and once it is established, Paspalum grass will even tolerate seawater.

Vita Park Golf Resort’s second 18-hole course, the 6480-metre Halicarnas par-70, opened in 2011. With topography reminiscent of some of Arizona’s dramatic courses, the Halicarnas par-70 includes a private driving range and native landscaping with waterfalls and creeks.

Day1 Turkey Customized Sightseeing Istanbul – Kayseri – Cappadocia (lunch, dinner)

Turkey customized sightseeing with tour guide Turkey startswith a flight from Istanbul Ataturk airport to Kayseri. Drive to Cappadocia then tour to Kaymakli Underground City. It is one of the most interesting underground settlements in Cappadocia.

Soganli Valley is like an Open Air Museum with its different style rock-cut churches and frescoes. It is in a wild natural setting near a typical Cappadocian village. Villages in the valley, surrounded by the table top mountains, are spectacular. We will have lunch and then continue with Keslik Monastery near Cemil. The monastery hides its frescoes behind a very thin smoke layer which we can only see by torch light. The Medrese (Theological School) from Seljuk Turks in Taskinpasa is the witness of an early and rich Turkish settlement in the town.

I like to mention a different church here, in private Sofia tour, which is in UNESCO Heritage List. The difference here with Keslik Monastery is the several layers of wall paintings in the interior of the Bulgarian church, from the 11th, 13th, 15-17th and 19th centuries which testify to the high level of wall painting during the different periods.

Our tour will finish with a visit to Mustafapasa (Sinasos), an old Greek town with its spectacular old Greek houses. They are very fine examples of late Greek settlements and architecture.

Transfer to Hotel Cappadocia.

Day2 Cappadocia (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

In the morning, the first meeting for the day you will have is with the lunar landscape of Cappadocia. It includes rock formations beyond belief in Devrent valley. The day will carry on with a walk in Zelve Open Air Museum. This is a journey in the past with its troglodyte houses. Also, we will pay a visit to Pasabag fairy chimneys, where the voice of wind mixes with the songs of fairies. Just like fairies, who are mythical or legendary creatures in some European folklores, kukeri are typical for Bulgarian culture. Join us in Kukeri Carnival in Bulgaria in early spring.

Then Lunch in Avanos, centre of terra cotta work of art since 3000 BC and a demonstration in a traditional pottery workshop. Afternoon, visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum and see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia in rock-cut churches with frescoes and paintings (10th to 13th century). Climb on top of the Uchisar Rock-Castle to have a panoramic view of the valleys of Cappadocia. Transfer to hotel and overnight.

Day3 Turkey Customized Sightseeing – Cappadocia – Kayseri – Istanbul (breakfast)

After breakfast transfer to the airport to take the flight back to Istanbul from Kayseri. Service ends at Istanbul airport.

Day 1 – Istanbul

After breakfast, we will spend the whole day experiencing and enjoying historic Istanbul. Hagia Sophia, the place where religions meet, the symbol of tolerance and harmony, is surely in our list. Next is its neighbour, the Blue Mosque, famous for its blue Iznik tiles and for being one of the architectural marvels of the world. The Hippodrome Square is very close as well and awaits us. It used to be the social and sporting centre of two empires, where ancient chariot races were held.

We haven’t forgotten about nice places for shopping and colourful locations at the same time, of course. The Egyptian Spice Market – a world of spices and smells where you can enjoy these both. Last but not least is a boat tour on the Bosphorus, viewing the picturesque beauty of the European and Asian shorelines on either side. (balkan tours 2020-21)

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 – round tours Turkey – Sardis, Philadelphia, Pamukkale

On that day we will have a short flight from Istanbul to Izmir. Upon arrival at Izmir we will lose no time but get along ancient trade routes and we will visit some of the 7 Churches of Revelation. Sardis was the capital of one of the richest kingdoms of the ancient worlds. Its great location and the stronghold the inhabitants of the city built, made them overconfident and proud. The church in Sardis started with great promise as well but soon faded. It starts with a message ‘You have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.’

Philadelphia, on the other hand, is the church which is introduced as the key to doors, important doors. It has a renewal of life, love. Philadelphia, unlike Sardis, had endured patiently.

After having felt the lesson from this church, which is to focus on the things that matter, we will pay a visit to the natural salt flats of Pamukkale, a truly spectacular sight indeed!

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 – A morning to relax

It will be an easy and relaxing morning before we leave for the Aegean coast or the picturesque port city of Kusadasi. We will spend the morning enjoying Pamukkale, the natural hot spring pools of the hotel. You might like to experience the Turkish baths and spa facilities!

On the way to Kusadasi we will visit another church of the Seven Churches of the Book of Revelation, Laodicea. This is the church that received no praise, no affirmation from Jesus. He says that they are neither hot, nor cold. They are lukewarm which means they were half-hearted Christians.

You will have dinner at the hotel in Kusadasi.

Day 4 – Ephesus

Today, we will spend the whole day exploring the unforgettable ruins of Ephesus. The city of Ephesus was once considered the most important trading centre in the Mediterranean region. It had one of the finest harbours in the world. Unfortunately, it lost its port due to natural disasters, and gradually lost its significance over time. Nevertheless, it was known as ‘the first of the greatest’ and ‘the first and greatest metropolis in Asia’.

One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World used to be in Ephesus, the Temple of Diana. It was blessed by Paul and John. Ephesus used to be most probably the place where Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, lived until she died. Not only did the city had a commercial significance but religious one as well. Everything spiritual that started in Ephesus quickly spread abroad. The church received perhaps one of the best praises ever as one that is hard-working, patient but not to those who are evil. Ephesus was the ‘desirable church’ that left its first love!

Our day also includes a visit to the church of Apostle John.

Dinner is back at the hotel in Kusadasi.

Day 5 – Smyrna, Pergamon and Troy

After breakfast we depart for a day visiting other sights of the Seven Churches of Revelation – Smyrna and Pergamum.

Smyrna is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is the second of the Seven Churches of Revelation and the only one today of the seven that still exists as a major city. It’s a harbour city today and its modern name is Izmir.

The church was constantly persecuted but though they were poor in earthly goods due to these persecutions, they were rich in character and spiritual things. Smyrna church was agreeable and beautiful to Jesus.

The time period of Pergamos coincided with Emperor Constantine’s conversion to Christianity. Due to that, Rome went from paganism to Christianity. That was dangerous because people felt comfortable in the new situation. There were people who said they were Christians but they still continued certain pagan practices. Soon a big separation occurred – that between the compromised majority and the persecuted minority. Jesus here is represented as the one who has a sword with two edges. He knew what was going on and he also knew the church of Pergamos needed to repent.

Towards the end of the day we shall arrive at the site of the ancient city of Troy.

Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Canakkale.

Day 6 Canakkale to Istanbul

In the morning, after breakfast we will depart for Istanbul. We will cross the Dardanelle Straits and drive to Istanbul.

In Istanbul we will visit Istanbul’s perfect jewel – the oldest and biggest shopping mall of the world, the Grand Bazaar.

(We are also happy to share our experience with you for Bulgaria. Please, visit Sofia private guided tours)

Overnight in the hotel.

Day 1 Istanbul

Istanbul is well-known around the world. Many people visited, visit and will visit it. One or two days is very short time to explore and enjoy that city. Therefore, the first three days of your tour we will spend in Istanbul.

We will spend the morning visiting the Hippodrome Square. This used to be the sporting and social centre of two empires. The ancient Hippodrome was originally a gathering place, sports area and the scene of chariot races.

Hagia Sophia

Next is the symbol of Istanbul throughout time, Hagia Sophia or St. Sophia. It is a place really enjoyable for all the history, inspiration and beauty it offers. For almost a thousand years the church had maintained its status as the largest Christian church. Today it is the fourth largest one after St. Paul’s in London, St. Peter’s in Rome and Duomo in Milan. Built at the command of Emperor Justinian in the years 532 to 537, Hagia Sophia was first constructed as a church. Then it became a mosque and now it is a museum.

Ataturk, the first president and the founder of modern Turkey, turned it into a museum in 1935. Justinian’s church was ready in less than 6 years. And it reigned as the greatest church in Christendom until the Conquest of Constantinople in 1453. (A suggestion for you is to visit Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, with local guide Sofia)

Another place of interest will be the Underground Cistern. Emperor Justinian built it in the 6th century and served for water storage. It could store up to 80,000 cu metres of water which was delivered via aqueducts from a reservoir near the Black Sea.

Follows the Topkapi Palace. 9 years after Mehmet the Conqueror conquered Constantinople, he started building his palace. The palace housed the sultans and their exotic entourage until mid 19th century. The complex is a group of structures which incorporates works from successive periods of Ottoman reign. Today the museum displays priceless collections of the imperial treasury, numerous pieces of Chinese porcelain, traditional costumes of the sultans and their families and special section for the preservation of the relics of Prophet Mohammed.

Blue Mosque

Visit Blue Mosque, built in early 17th century and know as Blue Mosque because of its magnificent interior decoration with blue Iznik tiles. It is also unique in the world to have 6 minarets.

Last stop will be at famous historical Grand Bazaar, the largest “souk” covered oriental shopping mall in the world, where you will find 4,400 shops under one roof where each trade has its own street. There is a wide selection of leather, jewelry, antiques, copperware, souvenirs, and famous hand-made Turkish carpets displayed in this historical shopping center.

Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2 Istanbul

We will start the day with a nice breakfast and get ready to continue exploring Istanbul. It is going to be a relaxing day when we will enjoy Istanbul’s nature.

You have heard many times that Istanbul lies on two continents, I am sure. Now you will see it. We will drive to the Asian side of Istanbul via the Bosphorus Bridge that connects the two continents, Asia and Europe. The bridge was built in 1973, the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. It is 1.560 m long and 64 m high. We will head to the highest hill in Istanbul, Camlica Hill, to enjoy the unique scenery, magnificent view of the Bosphorus and the beautiful nature.

We will have a short break in a place in Istanbul to taste the world-famous yoghurt.

Before we get to the hotel tired but emotionally satisfied, we will pay a visit to the visit historical Spice Market (Egyptian Bazaar). This bazaar was built in 1664 as a part of Yeni Mosque complex situated nearby and named Egyptian Bazaar because spices and herbs brought from or via Egypt were sold in it.

Last but not least is the “Golden Horn”. We will get a cable car to Pierre Loti Hill. This is another stunning view of the city. The hill was named after the famous French writer, Pierre Loti. He was a French sailor and a writer.

Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 3 Istanbul

After breakfast, departure to the royal residence of Ottoman Sultans, the sumptuous Dolmabahce Palace. Sultan Abdulmecid II spent millions on a palace that would give the illusion of prosperity and progressiveness. Dolmabahce Palace was built between 1843 and 1856 by Sultan Abdulmecit.

Until the 17th century the area where Dolmabahce Palace stands today was a natural harbour. It was a bay, where the navy anchored in the early periods. When the Ottomans conquered Istanbul, they gradually filled that bay. So it became one of the imperial parks on the Bosphorus. Its name is Dolmabahce, meaning “filled garden”. Sultan Abdulmecid II spared no expense in creating a house to rival the most opulent palaces of France. The result is a magnificent building, on an area of 25 hectares, consisting of 285 rooms, four grand salons, six galleries. Also, five main staircases, six hamams and 43 toilets.

Chora Museum

Follows a visit to Kariye Museum or Chora church. Chora is an ancient Greek word which means ‘countryside’. Originally, it was a part of a monastery complex outside the walls of Constantinople, to the south of Golden Horn, in the early 5th century. The church was built in the 4th century during the Byzantine days, then outside the city walls. In the beginning of the 16th century the church was converted into a mosque and it stayed like that for four centuries. The Turkish government rediscovered and restored the Chora Church quite a lot in mid 19th century. Then in 1948, the Byzantine Institute of America began the painstaking work of revealing and restoring the hidden mosaics and frescoes.

We will also explore Istiklal Street. This is he city’s most popular strolling, shopping and snacking street. It is now reserved for pedestrians, lined with boutiques, cafes, consulates, restaurants, galleries, cinemas and banks. It is located in the historic Beyoglu (Pera) district and is 1.4 kilometres long.

There is one of the Roman Empire’s greatest remaining pieces of architecture – the magnificent theatre with its stunning acoustics.  and Roman Aqueduct. The famous theatre is dedicated to Emperor Markus Aurelius. It is still useable today with a seating capacity of 20,000 people. Another thing to pay attention to when in Aspendos are the aqueducts. They are also very impressive and signify the advanced engineering of its time. Aspendos, as well as Side, is known as the place that coined money in its own name at that early period.

After all the emotions at the theatre, you might need some free time that you can spend preferably at the historical harbour.

Overnight in Antalya.

Day 5 Demre – Kekova

After breakfast, we will go to Demre (Myra). In today modern town of Demre a once large and important city is hidden. This is the Lycian city of Myra. As it was founded on a fertile plain, agriculture was probably an important industry in the area. The New Testament talks about Myra because St. Paul stopped at Myra during his journey to Rome. In the city’s harbour, Andriake, he changed boats on his way to trial in Rome around 60 AD. St. Nicholas was the bishop in the local church. During his time he destroyed many temples in an effort to eliminate paganism in the population.

Then, we will take a boat to the island of Kekova. Before the Byzantines, the Romans or the Ottomans this place was home to the world’s first democratic federation. Unfortunately, its remains are clearly visible just a few meters below the clear waters of the Mediterranean. Today the island, where the remains of the sunken city are, is uninhabited. It’s in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage as a tentative candidate.

It became a leading centre of Greek thought and culture over the following centuries. A small Christian congregation developed after St Paul’s visits at the end of his third missionary journey around AD 57. It eventually declined due to the silting up of its harbours.

Continue to visit Didyma. The most important oracle site in Asia Minor. In the ancient times, Didyma was famous as the place where a colossal Temple of Apollo stood, and the oracle revealed the future. The temple was a superb example of architecture and a sign of grandeur of this area, outstanding for culture and art. It enclosed a sacred natural spring.

According to ancient sources, Didyma area had been considered sacred even before Greek settlers arrived on the coast of Asia Minor. Also, its oracle was much feared and much attended. In 493 BCE the Persians destroyed the archaic temple of Apollo at Didyma. For many years the temple was a complete ruin. It was not until the time of Alexander the Great, when the temple started to be re-erected. There is a legend saying that after Alexander the Great had arrived at Didyma, the sacred spring began to flow again.

Day 10 Ephesus

There is no way that you visit Turkey and you miss Ephesus, especially when you are that close to that ancient city. Let your guide take you on a history journey. Allow yourself feel the mystical atmosphere of the ancient city and theatre. After breakfast, we will visit the ancient city of Ephesus, which remains to be the best preserved ancient city in the world and one of the Seven Churches of Asia addressed in the Book of Revelation.

Ephesus was once considered the most important Greek city and the most important trading centre in the Mediterranean region. It survived many attacks and changed hands several times between conquerors. Always, though, his protector was Artemis, the Goddess whose temple was one of the “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World”.

Today, the majority of the ruins are beautifully restored and one can visit a complete city including the Arcadian Way, the Great Theatre (for 125,000 people), the Marble Road, the Celsius Library, the Temple of Hadrian, the Trojan Fountain, and the Gymnasium.

Ephesus played a vital role in the spread of Christianity. St. Paul and St. John were the ones who visited the place, rebuked the cults of Artemis and won many Christian converts. Not every Ephesian was open to Paul’s Christian message. There was a man who started a riot because he was worried Christianity would ruin his trade.

Christianity

Nonetheless, Christianity was soon spread on these lands. Even, St. John brought Virgin Mary to Ephesus after the death of Jesus Christ and she lived until the age of 101 in a small house built for her on Mt. Koressos. Now it is a popular place of pilgrimage. After the house receives the official sanction of the Vatican, there is a commemoration ceremony every year on August 15th.

The foundations of the house are old. They may date back to the 1st century. The rest of the building is from the 6th century. The setting is beautifully peaceful, encouraging contemplation.

We will, of course visit The House of Virgin Mary.

Then, we will continue to St. John’s Basilica which was built in 6th century. The building was in the shape of a cross and 6 domes covered it. Under the central dome was the tomb of St. John. It has a marble marker today. When Christianity became the state religion, the crowds who once flocked to the Temple of Artemis turned their attention to this cathedral.

Let me share a secret with you. This is not the only tour we can offer you and not only in Turkey. What about customized Sofia city tours in Bulgaria?…

Here is the itinerary for our eastern round tour day by day.

Day 1 Istanbul – Adana – Tarsus

We leave Istanbul for Adana by plane. At Adana Airport we will have our driver waiting for us ready to drive us to Tarsus which is only 40 km away. Tarsus was the scene where Mark Anthony and Cleopatra first met. People also know it as the birthplace and hometown of St Paul, the Apostle. There we will visit the Ancient Road which was built during the early Roman period in 1st century AD.

Christians know St Paul as one of the most important and influential figures of Christianity. He was born into a rich family in Tarsus. At the starting point of the Old Tarsus Houses, right next to the Ancient Road, is located one of the promised important sights of the UNESCO List. This is St. Paul’s Well. It is one of the most important places for Christians and those of them visiting the place find it a very good thing to have their baptism ceremony with water from the well.

Another characteristic of Tarsus are its unique old houses which have strong and difficult atmosphere.

We won’t miss the Church of St Paul which was built in the 5th century AD. Although it later became a mosque, this church still has Christian religious frescoes.

Back to Adana. Once there we will pay attention to the oldest bridge in the world still in use, Taskopru (Stone Bridge). It was probably built in the first half of the second century AD. The bridge has been the transit point of caravans, armies and rulers travelling from Anatolia to the south and east.

Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Adana.

Day 2 Adana – Antakya

In the morning, after breakfast, we will drive to Antakya (Hatay). Antakya is the capital of Hatay Province. It is famous for being an important centre of early Christianity, with some of the first non-hidden churches. There we will visit one of the oldest churches of Christianity. This is the Church of St. Peter where Christians could openly call themselves Christians for the first time. As of today’s Antakya, it is a multicultural place where prayers in many different tongues can be heard. Antakya is also famous for its cuisine. So, our 2 days in Antakya will be a kind of culinary and historical tour.

While we are in Antakya we will visit Antakya Archaeological Museum where you can see the magnificent Byzantine mosaics. A few more places we will see as well and these are Anatolia’s first mosque Habibi Neccar Mosque, the Catholic Christian Church, the Armenian Church. Also the Jewish neighbourhood, the Greek neighbourhood, the Orthodox Church and Old Antakya Bazaar.

Overnight in Antakya.

Day 3 Hatay Samandag – Vakifli Village – St Simeon Monastery

That day we will devote to Samandag, which is a district in Hatay Province, to see all important historical sights. We will also drive to the nearby Armenian village of Vaklifi and last but no least, of course, will be the St. Simeon Monastery.

In Samandag we can see the end of the Mediterranean Sea. Then, the Vespasianus Titus Tunnel. Shortly, the Titus Tunnel, which is a magnificent ancient structure that 1,000 slaves constructed to prevent floodwaters in the area. Of course, the Besikli Cave, which is right next to the tunnel, ready to show off with its particular architecture and decoration.

Next is a visit to the only remaining Armenian village of Vakifli. It is quite an ecological village with healthy organic agriculture.

Moses’ 3000-year-old plane tree.

And St Simeon Monastery which was built in honour of Simeon Stylites the Younger who started living on a pillar at the age of twenty.

Dinner at one of the most famous and delicious restaurants of Antakya. Overnight in Antakya!

Day 4 Antakya – Gaziantep

After breakfast we will leave Antakya for Gaziantep. Gaziantep is the sixth most populous city in Turkey and one of the things that it is famous for is its cuisine. Due to that, we call this city ‘the city of Baklava’. Due to the city’s contact with many ethnic groups and cultures throughout its history, we may define Gaziantep as a diverse and interesting city. Not only will we enjoy the delicious Gaziantep dishes, but we will also see many historical buildings.

Mosaic Museum – what is dominating in the museum and can be easily seen from all floors is the Statue of Mars. Mars is the god of war and spring. It is one of the most important items in the museum exhibition. Another thing that we can see is the mournful expression of the Gypsy Girl Mosaic within a mysterious, labyrinthine room.

Gaziantep Grand Bazaar, Mosques and back streets with local museums in the Old City are on our list of interesting places as well.

A dinner in a local restaurant to taste the delicious local food. Overnight in Gaziantep.

Day 5 Gaziantep – Halfeti – Rumkale – Harran – Sanliurfa

After breakfast we will leave for Sanliurfa. That is our last stop for the day. Before we reach Sanliurfa, though we will visit several places.

Zeugma Ancient City settled by Euphrates river. It is a very important historical sight to visit. There have always had inhabitants since the prehistoric era. The city managed to establish its place as one of the greatest cities in Anatolia through its position over both land and river transportation at different periods throughout history. Zeugma is on the UNESCO Tentative list of World Heritage Sites with its historical culture and cultural heritage.

Follows a boat trip on Euphrates River by the villages of Halfeti and Savasan. Most of the houses, the mosque’s minaret are submerged under the Birecik Dam waters.

Rumkale (Roman Castle) is one of the most significant places in the history of Christianity. It was also the home to many civilizations throughout history and it is said that John, an apostle of Jesus, lived there during Roman times. It is as well known to be a place where the copies of the Bible were reproduced by John, who did it in a rock-carved room confidentially. Rumkale bears the traces of Urartian, Babylonian, Sumerian, Seljuk and Ottoman civilians.

Next, we will drive to Harran Valley where we will see the conic Harran houses. Harran is one of the oldest settlements and is believed to have the earliest university of history. The ancient city dates back to 3000 BC when an early king or mayor of Harran married an Eblaite princess, who became the Queen of Harran. After we visit some historical buildings, we will drive back to Sanliurfa.

Overnight in Sanliurfa.

Day 6 Gobeklitepe – Sanliurfa Museum – Balikligol (Fish Lake) – Adiyaman

After breakfast, we will see the Sanliurfa Museum where we can see all historical pieces which were excavated and brought from Gobeklitepe, the oldest temple in the world. (Just a quick reminder about other tours we offer, Balkan tours 2022)

Sanliurfa Archeological Museum – one of the most interesting works in the museum is the ‘Urfa Man’. It is considered to be the world’s oldest statue. It is also the exact replica of one of the temples at Gobeklitepe. Another curious thing that you can see in the museum is the Nevali Cori. This is a cult site which was submerged by the Atatürk Dam and moved into the museum with its original stones.

Gobeklitepe (Abdomen Hill) – the first temple in the World’s History. Gobeklitepe has been described as the oldest temple of the history which dates back to 12 000 years ago. It was not a settlement, a village. People had definitely not used it for domestic life but for ritual purposes. A series of huge stone structures including decorated pillars weighing up to 20 tons. Gobeklitepe symbolizes the beginning of the Neolithic Age. It is considered to be the birthplace of agriculture. In Gobeklitepe archaeologists found a society completely new to us. There are many unanswered questions about that place. It has changed the age of history. Gobeklitepe was added to UNESCO World Heritage in 2018. And 2019 was announced as the year of Gobeklitepe in World Heritage.

Balikli Gol (Fish Lake)

Urfa is one of the most mystical locations in Anatolia. We also know it as the city of prophets. Balikli Gol is another one of such mystical places. It has a story even written in holy books which explains the fight between King Nemrut and Prtophet Abraham.

After completing our program in Sanliurfa, we will drive to Adiyaman for Mount Nemrut to catch the sunset.

Mount Nemrut is home to one of Turkey’s most iconic sights. This 2,150-meter peak is one of the country’s UNESCO World Heritage sites and one of Turkey’s most fascinating and eerie ruins. It is a national park which is famous for the antique statuary on the summit dating back to Commagene Kingdom as the largest open air museum of the world. Mount Nemrud has the biggest statue of Zeus in the world.

Overnight in Adiyaman.

Day 7 Adiyaman – Diyarbakir – Mardin

Back on the road to Diyarbakir and Mardin. On the way, we will visit Perrhe Ancient city. It was a major city during the Commagene Kingdom. Perrhe Ancient City was a place where armies, caravans and soldiers could take a break. The water flowing from the fountain still provides drinking water for residents today. Perrhe was an important place because of its location and that was like that throughout the Roman Period. Then, it witnessed a golden age. What is most interesting and fascinating for visitors are The thousands of tomb chambers and galleries in the Necropolis area of the Ancient City. The tombs are decorated with reliefs and feature sarcophagi.

Another places to stop at are Karakus (Black Bird) Tumulus, Arsemia, Cendere Roman Bridge of Caracalla.

Day 8 Deyrul Zafaran – Dara – Mor Jakob – Mor Augin

Our day will start exploring in and around of Mardin city. It is an important city where you can see the mosaic of different cultures and different religions such as Keldanis, Catholics, Assyrians, Yazidis, Muslims, Orthodox Christians, etc.

We will visit:

Deyrulzafaran Monastery

As I have already mentioned, the whole tour is kind of magical due to the places we visit. The monastery is not an exclusion. It’s part of the fairy tale called ‘southeastern Turkey’. The first thing that strikes you when you get closer to the monastery are its inviting energy and the yellowish stone. The meaning of the Syriac word ‘deyrulzafaran’ is yellow. The colour of these stones must have inspired the name of the monastery. People usually know Deyrulzafaran Monastery better by its nickname, the “Saffron Monastery”. The Syriac Orthodox Monastery dates back to the 5th century and has both historical and religious importance. This was the patriarchate centre of all Assyrians in the world. The monastery was used not only for worship but also for education, and the first printing house in the region was established here.

Dara Ancient City is located 30 km Southeast of Mardin and it is one of the most glorious settlements in the region. It used to be one of the most important trade centres of Mesopotamia for centuries. The ruins of the ancient city of Dara, which date back to the 5th century AD, have been compared to the city of Ephesus in Aegean Turkey. Due to that comparison, it earned its nickname the Ephesus of Mesopotamia.

In the city, remnants of the necropolis, churches, houses, and agora can be seen. As well as the impressive water cistern situated outside of the ruins and nearer to the village centre.

Mor Jakob Monastery or Church of Saint Jacob in Nisibis, is a historic Assyrian Orthodox church in Nusaybin, southeastern Turkey. Archaeological excavations revealed that the 4th-century church building was originally the baptistery of a cathedral, which no longer exists.

Zeynel Abidin Mosque

It is a historical Mosque in Mardin Province which was built in 1159 during Zengid Dynasty for Zeynel Abidin and his sister Sitti Zeynep. They were the 13th generation grand children of prophet Muhammed.

Mor Augin Monastery

Then, the Byzantine Emperor Justinian expanded it in the 6th century with additions that he made right down into the modern period.

An hour’s drive away from Mardin is the charming and rustic old city of Midyat. Syriac orthodox churches exist within the old city but the highlight is an old culture house. Midyat is famous for its filigree art and Syriac wines.

In Mardin Old city we will explore the streets, complexes, mosques, churches, bazaars;  Sheikh Cabuk Mosque, Zinciriye Complex, Kirklar Church, Archaeology Museum, Virgin Mary Church, Old PTT Building, Latifiye Mosque, Grand Mosque, Sitti Radviye Mosque, Keldani Church, abbaras, Kayseriyye Bedesten, Balikcilar Bazaar, etc.

Bitlis definitely has its fair share of cultures come and go. The area is known for its preservation of medieval and traditional architecture.

Volcanic Crater Lakes in Nemrut Mountain, Tatvan

After visiting Bitlis, we will drive to Mount Nemrut to see the crater lakes at the top of the mountain. Nemrut Crater Lake is the world’s second largest and Turkey’s largest crater lake. This natural beauty was the result of a volcanic eruption on Mount Nemrut. Due to the eruption, cold and hot lakes had been formed there.

Ahlat Seljuk Cemetery – located on the shore of Lake Van in the ancient city of Ahlat in eastern Bitlis province, which is 38km away from Mount Nemrut. It is a well-preserved 800-year-old historical cemetery known for its unique tombstones with hand carving art on them. The castle consists of two parts: “Upper Fortress” and “Lower Fortress”. There is a temple there dedicated to the Urartian chief deity.
